Landlords pt. ii
Morleigh Lease Update During Displacement
From the week of April 12-16th 2024 Morleigh Lease attempted to correct a leak in the ceiling for the tennant below in 110. The first night was an emergency visit around 8:45pm the interaction was very cordial followed by a second visit the next morning. Today on April 16, 2024 the maintenance person from when I interviewed during their toilet leveling back towards the beginning of this year knocked on my door around 10:45am and informed me they were going to need me to keep the water off while they work on pipes today. I asked why am I paying extra for this, I have dishes and have to drink water from that faucet today, I informed him that there is flooding in the basement and asbestos in the walls that there are OSHA violations and that need to be met, this place is from the 70’s and that its haunted and could screw things up. His partner replied along the lines I am new and I don’t know what is going on in attempts to deescalate the conversation, and I simply informed the maintenance man that I needed to talk to Cliff Casey or Joel and that there’s miscommunication going on from the order of operations that Morleigh had attempted to agree to once I signed in on the lease from earlier this year. Let alone the price I was quoted for during my first eviction notice. The maitnenace man raised his voice once I corrected him even though he is simply trying to do his job. However there is clearly more at play here if I am able to predict that he holds stock in the company and that he knows that my apartment surfaces in conversations in weird ways in the office. I was simply attempting to voice my concerns since I am a customer and since I am so displaced as the first Native Hawaiian person born in Michigan that my displacement in the city and the state and that the census claims to have overhead in Morleigh’s pay demographic and net worth towards natural incentive and reform. And that raising my rent and setting my account with out addressing the problem bureaucratically to continually diminish and dehumanize my stay in this city is infact against the best interest of the city and state.
